Basquiat
This design was inspired by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, known for his expressive and vibrant style. Beginning with a portrait of Basquiat, I enhanced its quality and then incorporated one of his unnamed self-portraits, blending it over his face to evoke his unique artistic essence.
To further emulate Basquiat's style, I added various elements around him in the negative space, carefully selecting those that complemented his aesthetic. After experimenting with different textures and effects, I applied a Gaussian blur to the entire image except for his face, enhancing emphasis and contrast by adding a radial pattern around it.
This design won first place in the graphic design section of the Vincennes University art show and earned an editor's choice award in drawing and design in the Tecumseh Review, a publication showcasing the creative work of Vincennes University students.
