For this project, we were tasked with applying two distinct Photoshop effects an image of our choice image. While we were encouraged to explore tutorials on platforms like YouTube for inspiration, the goal was to avoid basic effects and strive for originality in our approach.
Uzi Album Cover
For this project, I decided to create an album cover featuring the rapper Lil Uzi Vert, whom I was listening to frequently at the time. I opted for a collage effect, gathering various colorful textures and applying a threshold adjustment to six levels of greyscale. Next, I separated each color and masked different portions of the image to correspond to these levels. To enhance the album cover aesthetic, I incorporated additional text elements, including Lil Uzi Vert's name positioned above him.
Glow
In this design, I initially considered a glow effect but found it too basic for my vision. Instead, I decided to elevate the concept by incorporating glowing elements, specifically focusing on Lil Uzi Vert's dreads and adding glowing butterflies flying around him. To enhance the theme further, I made his eyes glow subtly and adjusted the color of his pullover from pink to blue, contributing to the overall aesthetic and cohesion of the design.
