For this design we were assigned with creating a book cover for a local writer named Molly Daniels. She provided us with a description of the book and a couple pages from it.
Protecting Sage Defending Your Life #3
From the content she provided us I knew it was about this character named Sage traveling to different timelines. I choose to visual communicate that by showing her in a dark room empty room with a portal in the center with her looking into it at a distants to show perpective.
Construction
There was a lot I did to the design before it reached the final product, a lot more then I can show here. I started with a picture of a room that I ended up duplicating and blending to make both sides look the same. After seeing different ways of people making portals I ended up finding a pictur of a mine entrance nad blended it in and added color adjustments to match the room. I then added different effects and elecmts to the portal to make in look more real and magical. I added her looking into the portal to add perspetive and a sillioute of her in it to add more impact and to show it's a portal and that people go through it.
