As part of our class assignment, we were tasked with designing the academic catalog and welcome poster for the upcoming school year. My catalog was selected and will be used for the 2024-2025 school year.
Academic Catalog
For my catalog design, I aimed to create a visually engaging layout that captures the essence of our school community and its values.
In the bottom right corner, I positioned the school seal, part way off the page, leading the viewer's gaze toward three images arranged in alignment with the circular shape of the seal. These images showcase the vibrant diversity, dynamic student life, hands-on learning experiences, and graduation to remind the students why there here in the first place.
To enhance visual interest and to make it not look so blend, I incorporated textures in the negative space, ensuring that the design remains compelling and cohesive. Additionally, I employed paper textures on the student images, creating a sense of repetition and reinforcing the theme.
Emphasizing Vincennes University's identity, I blended the school's logo within the negative space, further anchoring the design and reinforcing brand recognition.
Welcome Students Poster Design
For the welcome poster design, my objective was to showcase the beauty of our campus and highlight a distinctive area recognizable to all as Vincennes University. Placing the Vincennes University logo in the top center, in full color, served to emphasize our institution's identity from the rest of the image.
In the bottom third of the poster, I continued with the textured aesthetic, seamlessly blending in the school seal instead of the logo, accompanied by text. This subtle incorporation of the seal reinforces our institution's values while adding to the overall look.
Although my poster was not selected, they had me edit the design to turn it into another academic catalog, which ended up being one of the top 5 catalog designs.
