On this project, we were assigned to make graphics for the VUX web portal that was not yet in use but ended up going live here recently. This is where all the Vincennes University students go ot when they first sign into the Vincennes University website. The challenge of this project was to make our designs completely responsive for different holidays, events, and seasons throughout the year.
Graduation
For this design, I selected the theme of graduation, aiming to capture the significance and warmth of this moment. I beginning with a photograph from our school's website showcasing a past graduation ceremony, I enhanced the atmosphere with subtle effects to evoke the specialness of the occasion.
Experimenting with various text options, I ultimately decided against adding text to the design. Despite attempts to incorporate text, I found that the diverse sizes and formats of the website did not complement the overall aesthetic.
This design was selected to be on the VUX web portal.
Presidents Day
I created a design featuring Mount Rushmore and the American flag, drawing inspiration from iconic imagery. Mount Rushmore was sourced from Vecteezy as a vector image, while the American flag was a real photograph with added effects for cohesion. All images used are copyright-free. While the website wasn't live on Presidents Day, the design celebrates patriotism year-round.
Spring
For this design I had the idea of illustrating sillihoutes of the stems and leafs on the flowers and the actual parts of the flowers being in color. I added other sillioutes of things like butterflys and beas to add to the theme of spring. I ended up taking the design to photoshop and added some atmospheric effects, color adjustments, and a faint gradient to make the design have more contrast and visual impact. This design was not selected to be used.
For this one, I conceived a design featuring flower silhouettes with, color only being on the blooms. To enhance the theme, I incorporated additional silhouettes of butterflies and bees, capturing the essence of spring.
Taking the design to Photoshop, I applied atmospheric effects, color adjustments, and a subtle gradient to amplify contrast and visual impact.
This design is copy right free and was not selected to be used.
Martin Luther King Day
For this design I choose to go with a collage style. I curated a collection of memorable moments featuring Martin Luther King Jr., ranging from speeches to portraits of him. To further enhance the theme, I incorporated images of protests, encapsulating the spirit of activism and social justice that go along with Dr. King's legacy. Adding variety, I included a statue of Martin Luther King Jr. as the only element not in a frame
All images in this design are copy right free. The website was not up on Martin Luther King Day.
